(DENVER) -- Today the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) reported that 5,735 regular initial unemployment claims were filed the week ending October 17th. There were also 2,973 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims filed for the same week. Since mid-March, a total of 581,334 regular unemployment initial claims have been filed and a grand total of 751,602 claims, including federal PUA benefits.* 

Colorado Employment Situation – September 2020 13,400 Nonfarm Payroll Jobs Added in September; Unemployment Rate Falls to 6.4%. According to the survey of households, Colorado’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 6.4 percent in September from 6.7 percent in August. During the same period, the national unemployment rate declined half of a percentage point to 7.9 percent.

There were also 2,532 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims filed for the same week. Since mid-March, a total of 575,599 regular unemployment initial claims have been filed and a grand total of 742,894 claims, including federal PUA benefits.* 

In August, the Just Transition Advisory Committee (JTAC) submitted a draft plan to assist coal-transition workers and coal-transition communities in Colorado.

There were also 2,413 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims filed for the same week. Since mid-March, a total of 563,465 regular unemployment initial claims have been filed and a grand total of 725,919 claims, including federal PUA benefits.* 

(DENVER) -- Today the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) reported that 5,007 regular initial unemployment claims were filed the week ending September 19th. There were also 1,899 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims filed for the same week. Since mid-March, a total of 558,625 regular unemployment initial claims have been filed and a grand total of 718,666 claims, including federal PUA benefits.* 

As the pandemic continues to disrupt the world of work, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) has chosen the third week of Workforce Development Month to highlight how apprenticeships can benefit both workers and employers.

(DENVER) – Today the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment announced it has begun paying benefits under the Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) program, a federally-funded unemployment benefit providing Coloradans with an additional $300/week for up to six weeks. President Trump announced the LWA program last month, authorizing FEMA to expend up to $44 billion from its Disaster Relief Fund.
